1999 Caterham
Came to the shop to remove a broken plug. Despite our best efforts we couldn’t remove it and pulled the cylinder head to investigate further and found a cracked cylinder head. Decided to replace the engine.
New engine arrives!
Cleaned up firewall and replaced ECU and wiring harness.
Installed new engine with new clutch, bell housing, and clutch release bearing.
Another problem is that the steering column hits the water pump.
Rotated rack for clearance redoing radiator plumbing.
Re-engineered fuel injection plumbing for easy maintenance and aesthetics.
Throttle bodies are too low and don’t clear bonnet or chassis tube. Back to Dunnell (the engine manufacturer) for a fix.
Try 2 better but still too low.
Try 3 works. Dunnell custom manifold fits but still requires an inverted air filter as the original engine did.
Done, done, complete
